If you missed the first series of HETAS training...Now's your chance to catch up

HETAS Course at John J Doyle LimitedChimney specialists, John J.Doyle Ltd, recently hosted Ireland's first HETAS training courses in Belfast. These courses updated installers and retailers about safe, efficient and reliable appliance/system installation in accordance with Building Regulations.

The feedback has been overwhelming from installers and retailers alike, that the courses clearly demonstrated where their responsibilities lie for safe design and installation. We have been asked by those unable to attend the first dates to run a second series of courses.

What are HETAS Training Courses?

There are two types of course - a 2 day dry appliance course and a 3 day wet appliance course (days 1 and 2 are common to both.) All courses include the HETAS training manual, literature from the SFA and a copy of the HETAS guide to approved products and services.

This HETAS Course is designed to ensure that Heating Engineers are competent to install combustion appliances – Solid Fuel and Wood, in accordance with current Building Regulations (England and Wales). Materials are derived from the Building Regulations and current relevant standards.

Installers for wood pellet stoves or other mechanically fed biomass appliances will need to complete the HETAS biomass course in addition to the standard 2 or 3 day HETAS Course to gain competency for installation of these appliances.

Who should attend?

These courses have been specifically designed to meet the needs of stove retailers and installers, maintenance businesses, chimney sweeps (the 2 day course), specifiers, building control officers and inspectors and indeed anyone who needs to know about safe installation practices.

Course Costs

  • Two Day Solid Fuel Awareness Course  £330 + vat
  • Two day plus Third day (Optional) Heating Engineer/ Technician Course £495 + vat

Includes course materials, certificate, lunch & refreshments.

Draft Gauges - as recommended by HETAS now in stock

Draft Gauge from John J DoyleAt the recent HETAS training course run by John J Doyle, it was established that HETAS advise all stove and flue installers to use a draft gauge when installing or diagnosing a problem with a flue or stove.

It is essential to check that there is sufficient draw from the chimney for a successful stove installation. Similarly, when diagnosing a problem, the number one reason why flues leak is down to drafts, whether it is an insufficient draft, a back draft or a blockage.

This is why this gauge is recommended by HETAS as the main tool in any installers kit. We now have Draft Gauges in stock and available for order. Call us on 028 9024 7864 or email sales@johnjdoyle.com for further information.
